This piece was inspired by a very unique phenomenon in the sky. A fallstreak hole (also known as a hole punch cloud) is a large gap that can appear in cirrocumulus or altocumulus clouds. The holes are caused by supercooled water in the clouds suddenly evaporating or freezing, and may be triggered by passing aircraft. The many eyelets in this design, along with the cables, reminded me of the wide variety of clouds in our beautiful sky.

» The completed shawl (after wet blocking) measures 31 inches tall and 60 inches wide.
